Have You Considered Your Digital Assets in Your Estate Plan?

by | Sep 6, 2018 | Business Formation, Digital Assets, Estate Planning, Trusts, Wills

What digital assets you say? We don’t always consider that we have such things but most of us do. Your email account, for example. Do you get invoices via email? How will your Agent under a Power of Attorney even know about a bill that has to be paid if that Agent cannot access your email. What about online banking? Facebook account? Do you have an iTunes library? We all should have a password manager (an app that keeps all of your passwords) or a hard copy in a little notebook accessible by your Agent. The password to the app or the location of the notebook needs to be kept in a secure place which complicates things a little but if become incapacitated or you die, someone will need to be able to access those accounts.
